Mace Thomas Race Cars

 

These Cars pictured above were Hand Built By Mace Thomas of Thomas Race Cars.

Cars can be custom made, there are guidelines that must be followed to be eligible for racing in these classes.

 

Serious Racers

Graduates of this series include Scott Goodyear of Indy cars, Tim Steele of ARCA, and Andy Michener & Ronnie Johncox of USAC.

 

 

Serious Speed

Our Cars are scaled-down versions of Indy cars, designed for short track sprint racing. These cars bring Real Oval Track racing to the economy minded racer.

 Our Mini Formula Indy cars can reach speeds of up to 140 MPH and turn faster lap times than midgets and late model stock cars.

These cars are basically a faster, less expensive version of the world renowned F500 "Indy Lite" cars.

 On Most tracks, our cars can reach Winged Sprint  Car Speeds! They also hold several Track Records for Fast Lap Times at Tracks throughout Michigan and Indiana.

You can go faster, and for less money than the Formula Fords or Formula Vee Cars in one of these purpose built Race Cars.

Full Engine System Monitoring with default run codes & notifications. Runs on Pump Gas
USB laptop compatible data logger & tunablity (with addition of Power Commander)
Horsepower: 180@ crank with a 10% increase over 130mph- Ram Air
Transmission: Six Speed Electronic Sequential (Push buttons Not shown) Clutch used for starting and stopping only.
Exhaust: Titanium 4 into 1 header, split into 2 Titanium Cans, Servo controlled for low end bursts Cooling System: Water Cooled, Temp Sensors Ducted fan, Fully Automatic
Wheels: Aluminum 13" Rims, 5 lug, Balanced with Goodyear Slicks
Suspension: None- Offset & Rigid for smooth fast surfaces. Adjustable Caster & Camber, Straight 1&1/4" Solid rear axle
Brakes:  Rear-Two piston FJZ caliper on steel disc. Front- Airheart Cessna single piston puck type on floating steel rotors

NAMRA Formula Indy is a very fast and exciting Racing Series based in Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio.

Most of these cars are Rear Engine,  3 Cylinder, 600cc  Modified Two stroke Engines that produce Horsepower in the mid 150's. With a weight of approximately 600 pounds, this power to weight ratio is an INCREDIBLE THRILL to drive. These are SERIOUS MACHINES. The NEW CARS are even Lighter and FASTER with more HP!

  • If you have a "Need for Speed" desire and don't want to spend a ton of cash, THIS IS YOUR TICKET to Major Performance, Speed and Racing Action.  You simply cannot go this fast, for this amount of cash, PERIOD.

  • These cars accelerate with the feeling and pull of a really fast 1000cc motorcycle.

    • There are many of these cars available and racing these can be as affordable as racing a Motocross Bike.

     These are not Karts. These are 100% REAL RACE CARS.

    Several other organizations that run these cars and similar cars are FIRA (Formula Indy Racing Association) and the former Ohio Superlites.

The FIRA Cars also have a 750cc Motorcycle engine class and can be seen on their WEB SITE, so if you have what it takes, you can "clutch and Shift" your way into the winner's circle.

There is now of a modern version of these cars, being built "made to order" for those that want a Brand New Car. Use the Email link at the bottom of the page to find out more. The 2009 "Mace 2" car with a newer body style and power plant is currently being constructed and  it's very near completion. Pictures and Technical data will be posted when it's finished. Rear engine, Fuel Injected, open wheel Indy Style with push button shifters.
